Kinetiq is Hyperliquid's main liquid staking protocol, with about $1B in deposits. KNTQ is up ninefold from its low, but a large unlock arrives on 27 November. What the project does, what moved the price, the levels to watch and the buy low, sell high grid.

The context: asymmetry

October 2026: the market is in full risk-off mode (US / Iran war in its eighth month, Brent above $100, US yields at 24-year highs, Bitcoin back toward $81,000). Yet some assets keep performing, carried by endogenous forces (volume, revenue, buybacks, new products) stronger than exogenous forces (the macro picture, which hits everyone).

And Kinetiq? Kinetiq is built on Hyperliquid, so it partly benefits from HYPE's asymmetry. But its own token also has endogenous drivers, in both directions. The announcement of its Elysium layer 2 sent it up 30% in a few hours, while the opening of a discounted token sale sent it down 23% on 2 October.

What Kinetiq does

Kinetiq (KNTQ), launched in November 2025, is Hyperliquid's main liquid staking protocol. Users deposit their HYPE and receive kHYPE: they earn staking rewards while keeping a token they can use elsewhere. The protocol manages about $1B in deposits.

Kinetiq is expanding beyond staking:

  • iHYPE for institutions;
  • Markets by Kinetiq to list contracts on stocks, commodities or Bitcoin volatility;
  • Elysium, its own layer 2, half of whose revenue will be used to buy back and burn KNTQ. The launch is targeted around 20 October 2026, without official confirmation.

Who trusts it

  • Maven11 Capital: European crypto fund, investor in the 2024 seed round
  • Susquehanna Crypto: crypto arm of trading giant SIG, in the same round
  • Hyperion DeFi: Nasdaq-listed company, first institution to stake via iHYPE
  • Kraken: KNTQ listing at the end of May 2026
  • DoubleZero: September 2026 partnership to distribute Hyperliquid data to trading desks
  • Veda Labs: Earn yield vault built with Kinetiq

What moved the price

KNTQ lost more than 70% in the three weeks after its launch, then went through two big waves. It is a small, very volatile asset with limited liquidity.

  • 27 November to 17 December 2025, $0.13 to $0.036 (−72%) (mixed): launch followed by airdrop hunters selling, in a bearish crypto market.
  • April to early June 2026, $0.12 to $0.378 (mixed): HYPE rally and Kraken listing at the end of May.
  • June and July 2026, $0.378 to $0.09 (−75%) (endogenous): the post-listing fade, with liquidity drying up.
  • Late August 2026, +30% in a few hours (endogenous): announcement of Elysium, with 50% of sequencer revenue going to buy back and burn KNTQ.
  • September 2026, $0.21 to $0.45, record on 1 October (endogenous): Elysium testnet, Bitcoin volatility contracts and the DoubleZero partnership.
  • 2 October 2026, −23% (endogenous): end of the kPoints programme, holders can buy 50M KNTQ at $0.26 with no lock-up. The market anticipates the selling.

Key figures, Kinetiq as of 11 October 2026

  • $0.33: current price
  • $0.45: all-time high (1 October 2026)
  • −27%: discount from the record
  • About $93M: market cap, 28% of supply in circulation
  • ×9: from the low ($0.036 on 17 December 2025)
  • 310M KNTQ: unlock starting 27 November 2026

Our view

Strengths:

  • Leading liquid staking protocol on Hyperliquid, about $1B in deposits.
  • KNTQ buybacks funded by revenue from several products.
  • Elysium: a second revenue stream dedicated to buying back the token.
  • Exposure to the most dynamic ecosystem of the moment.

Watch points:

  • An unlock of 310M KNTQ starting 27 November 2026.
  • A high valuation: about 176 times the revenue returned to holders, according to an independent analysis.
  • kHYPE's share of staked HYPE is falling (from 10% to 4.4% in one year).
  • Low liquidity, so high sensitivity to large orders.

Levels to watch

  • $0.26: kPoints sale price
  • $0.38: June 2026 high
  • $0.45: all-time high

Confidence index: 45%. Real endogenous drivers, but an expensive, illiquid token facing a large unlock in six weeks.

Buy low, sell high: where does KNTQ stand?

Since June, KNTQ has traded between $0.09 and $0.45 and sits at 66% of that range, +257% above its late-July low.

  • Buy low: $0.26 and below, the price at which kPoints holders can buy, which acts as a reference for the market.
  • Sell high: $0.38 to $0.45, between the June high and the October record.

The analysis verdict: mid-range, unlock ahead. The current price is neither a buy zone nor a sell zone. Timing matters as much as price: the Elysium launch can support the token in the short term, but the 27 November unlock will weigh on supply. The rule suggests waiting for it to pass.
